Endless Mountain Rails planning committee is
pleased to make its first major trip announcements!

We have recently entered into an agreement to operate an all day excursion, over the Reading & Northern Railroad. Passengers will be able to ride in open window coaches and smell the coal smoke once so common in our nation as the R&N’s Pacific type engine #425 roars down nearly a hundred miles of track at mainline speeds. This throwback to the grand excursions of yesteryear will travel from Duryea (near Scranton) and make its way to Jim Thorpe and later Port Clinton Pennsylvania. Multiple photo runbys and still photo opportunities are planned during the course of the trip, which will traverse rails once operated by the Central Railroad of New Jersey, the Reading Company, the Lehigh Valley Railroad and even for a short distance, the Delaware Lackawanna & Western. Dates, times and prices for this and other convention activities will be sent first to those who have pre registered, so if you haven’t done so yet, now is the time!

Come and see the birthplace of the American Railroad! Endless Mountain Rails will be operating a bus trip to Honesdale to view the replica "Stourbridge Lion". We will also have the pleasure of riding the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce’s “Stourbridge Line” Rail Excursion powered by a rare BL-2 diesel locomotive.

Venture out to anthracite country and explore the Pioneer Tunnel Coal Mine and Steam Train. Board a battery powered mine train and travel into a restored coal mine to learn about the history and process of mining anthracite coal! Then take a ride behind a 42 inch gauge coal lokie around Mahanoy Mountain. This is a unique opportunity to ride the nations only anthracite coal burning engine! After a delicious lunch you'll get to take a ride on the Reading! The Wanamaker, Kempton and Southern Railroad is a scenic, laid back train ride of 6 miles round trip on a former Reading Company branch line. Riders will enjoy photo runbys/photo opportunities along the way!

Take Me Out to the Ballgame - By Trolley! The Endless Mountain Rails planning committee has arranged for convention guests to have the opportunity to ride a historic trolley car to the Lackawanna County Stadium. There guests will be able to watch a full 9 innings from a private party box as the Scranton Wilkes Barre Yankees take on the Pawtucket Red Sox. Triple A baseball at it's finest! One of the many fine activities we will offer during our event!

Many other events are in the final planning stages, check back for future announcements!
